Team USA suffered a major loss today when Cleveland Indians star Centerfielder Grady Sizemore withdrew from the 2009 World Baseball Classic with a groin injury. This a major blow to the title hopes of the Red, White and Blue as Sizemore is considered by many as the top leadoff man in the game. The current roster features on 4 OFs but can easily insert Detroit Tigers CF Curtis Granderson, who is also an outstanding player. That would leave Milwaukee Brewers LF Ryan Braun and RF Brad Hawpe from the Colorado Rockies as the other 2 OFs on the Davey Johnson’s roster. However, Cleveland Indians super sub Mark DeRosa can play any position and had numerous innings in the OF during his stay with the Chicago Cubs. Still, this is a HUGE blow to Team USA.
