The United States entry into the World Baseball classic has added 5 players over the past 3-4 days but lost a superstar catcher in the process. Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer will not play in the 2nd annual event. However, Colorado Rockies C Chris Iannetta committed. Joining him are Rockies teammate OF Brad Hawpe, Relief pitchers JJ Putz of the New York Mets and Jonathan Broxton of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy.
The Everyday lineup appears to be very strong as well as the relief corps. The rotation needs 2 of these three to round it out— Toronto Blue Jays Roy Halladay, Boston Red Sox Jon Lester and San Francisco Giants LH Tim Lincecum. This team looks like a serious contender right now.
