Top 50 Players in the Game

by @ 11:26 am. Filed under 2009 Mets

Interesting article in this weeks Sporting  News, ranking the top 50 players in all of MLB. The magazine polled 100 ex-players, managers and execs for their lists. St. Louis Cardinals stud 1b Albert Pujols was voted #1 by an amazing 55  voters!!!! Here is my list and my rules-explanation.

This is my list, I strongly value 5 tool players and defense, while punishing roids cheats!  This is the non-steroid era and tools guys win. I devalue 1 dimensional guys but recognize the value of a Michael Bourn or Ryan Howard. However, they will not appear in my top 20! This list is about 2009, who I would want on my team, how I would draft an open lottery if I was a ML GM. Mr. Wilpon, I am available to work and would not give Oliver Perez a deal!!!!
