Padres 7, Mets 4 (25-11)
The Mets pen railed them in this game as Jesse Orosco gave up a three run homerun to Tony Gwynn in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game. The Mets got a run in the first when Keith Hernandez drove in Mookie Wilson on a ground out. Starter Sid Fernandez then gave up two runs in each of the second and third innings to give the Padres a 4-1 lead.
The Mets began their comeback in the sixth when Gary Carter hit a solo shot to make it 4-2. Then in the seventh, the Mets tied the game on Wilson’s two run triple. Then Orosco fell apart and lost the game in the ninth.
