Looks like the old man still has something left in the gas tank. Tom Glavine was exceptional last night. Seven shutout innings in which he gave up only four hits and two walks. Guillermo Mota and Billy Wagner pitched an inning each and both kept the shutout intact. Even Albert Pujols was held in check. In five plate appearances he had no hits and one walk.
The big inning for the Mets was the sixth. Carlos Beltran broke the scoreless tie with a two run homerun and that was all of the scoring for either side.
The downer was Cliff Floyd left the game after reaggravated his achilles heel injury and he’s going to have an MRI today.
Tonight we’ll see the Cards ace. It’ll be Chris Carpenter going up against John Maine.
