Mets 3, Pirates 1 (101-53)
Sid Fernandez held the Pirates in check as he improved to 16-6 on the season. He gave up a single run on eight hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings of work. Roger McDowell came in and held the Pirates scoreless. He earned his 20th save of the season.
Keith Hernandez had a two run single and Howard Johnson hit a solo homerun to account for the Mets three runs. They only managed four hits but were able to make those count.
