The Mets came one step closer to breaking the franchise record of 100 wins that the 1969 team set. Dwight Gooden was solid on the mound as he improved to 15-6 with another complete game. He gave up two runs on six hits and five walks with eight strikeouts.
Rookie Dave Magadan had the best game of his short career. He went three for four with two RBIs. Lenny Dykstra went two for four with two runs and Darryl Strawberry and Ray Knight both had two hits.
