Mets 4, Expos 1 (44-16)
The Mets extended their winning streak to seven games as Ron Darling and the pen held the Expos in check. Darling threw seven shutout innings in which he gave up four hits and six walks while striking out eight. Roger McDowell gave up a run in the eighth, but that was all the Expos could get. Unfortunately, that one run sent the game into extra frames, but the Mets ran up three runs in the tenth to put things away.
Wally Backman went three for five with two doubles and a run. Darryl Strawberry went two for three with an RBI and a run while Lenny Dykstra drove in two.
