RH Mike Pelfrey(13-7,3.61) allowed 6 hits over 8 shut out innings leading the New York Mets over the Houston Astros 2-1 Friday night at Citi Field. The big right hander tossed a career high 124 pitches and dominated an Astros team that just completed a four game sweep of the Phillies in Philadelphia. The Mets managed only 3 hits but took advantage of ex Met Nelson Figueroa’s (3-2,2.77) early wildness(5 walks in first 4 innings) to help them score two runs. 3B David Wright hit a first inning sacrifice fly while 2B Ruben Tejada drew a 4th inning bases loaded walk to plate the 2nd run. RH Bobby Parnell(5 holds,2.96) gave up two singles in the ninth but LH Hisanori Takahashi(8-6,4.03) escaped the jam to earn his 2nd save and NY the victory. The Mets are now 64-64 and improve to 38-24 at Citi Field.
