The United States got a probable #1 starter for the World Baseball Classic when Houston Astros ace Roy Oswalt signed on Monday. Oswalt was 17-10 with a 3.54 era and struck out 165. He carries a 129-64 career record and has won 20 games twice while being widely regarded as one of the top big game pitchers in baseball.
His Astros teammate 1b-OF Lance Berkman declined playing for Team USA and informed Manager Davey Johnson within the past week.
