NY MESS: Minaya presser

by @ 1:21 pm. Filed under 2009 Mets

Just when you thought the 2009 NY Mets could not hit a new low, they did. In a press conference to announce the dismissal of VP of Player Development, Tony Bernazard, Mets GM Omar Minaya turned on the press and named names, targeting NY Daily news beat writer Adam Rubin. Rubin and his paper broke most of the Bernazard stories over the past week or so and Minaya attacked the the reporter’s credibility, shockingly claiming Rubin approached the team about a job in the club’s player development department.  Watching this was unfold reminded me of a  combo of pro wrestling, the Hills  and Shakespeare. Just an amazing day. In what should have been an easy day and the end of  story, the Mets targeted a member of the most powerful media contingent in the world. Not a good move. Just a horrible, ill thought move and a further example of why this team is a disaster, from the head on down! The worst part of this? The team just won back to back games and looked good over the weekend. Embarrassing day.
