LH Jon Niese(8-5,3.33) allowed 1 run over 5 innings while 3B David Wright supplied the big hit with a 3 run homer in the 5th inning as the New York Mets defeated the host Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday night at PNC Park. The game was played in the rain and weather ultimately ended the contest after 5. Niese gave up 5 hits and struck out 5, SS Jose Reyes and LF Angel Pagan added 2 hits and a run apiece. The win guarantees the Mets will win their first road series vs a National League team(Won an inter league series vs the Baltimore Orioles) in 2010 while improving their overall record to 62-61.

GAME NOTES: Start of the game was delayed 15 minutes due to rain… Wright now has 19 homers and 81 rbi on the season….Tejada hit a sacrifice fly in the 4th… Strange run of the year in the first as Carter struck out but the ball was not handled cleanly by C Chris Snyder. Snyder then threw to first to retire the hitter but Reyes sprinted home from 3rd , barely beating the throw and tag at the plate… Mets have won 3 of 4 overall
