The 1st place Atlanta Braves showed LH Pat Misch(0-4,5.14) how they got there Monday night, pounding him for 8 hits and 5 runs over 3 innings to lead the Braves over the New York Mets 9-3 at Turner Field. Atlanta’s rookie sensation Jayson Heyward went 4 for 5 with a 2 run homer and 4 rbis. He also scored 3 times while all star 3B Martin Prado added 3 rbi among his two hits. 2B Omar Infante, another all star, killed the Mets out of the leadoff spot with 2 hits and 3 runs, C Brian McCann(ALL STAR STARTER, I know Mets fans want to puke) added a homer with 2 hits. RH Jair Jurrjens(6-4,4.38) threw 5 and two third innings(3 runs allowed) to earn the win.Ex- Brave Jeff Francoeur had two hits for the Mets while SS Luis Hernandez, C Josh Thole and OF Angel(Team MVP) Pagan drove in the NY runs. The Mets now trail the Braves by 11 games in the NL East standings and drop to 65-66 in 2010.
METS STARTING LINE-UP: Pagan, 2B Luis Castillo, LF Chris Carter, 3b David Wright, 1B Ike Davis, Francoeur, Thole, Hernandez, Pitcher
GAME NOTES: Top pitching prospect Jenrry Mejia allowed 1 run over 8 innings in his first Triple A Start, while striking out 7 of the first 8 he faced. A VERY strong bet to replace Misch in the rotation after September 1 call-ups….CF Carlos Beltran was given the night off… Mets officials have told team beat writers not to expect SS Jose Reyes(Oblique) to return before Thursday at the earliest…. Wright struck out 3 times….Mets drop to 26-41 on the road… Davis hit his 25th double
