Not a whole lot of news from Mets camp, slow week. The biggest news is that it appears that veteran free agent signee Livian Hernandez has won the 5th starter job with his strong spring. The team sent down top pitching prospect Jonathon Niese last week along with C Robinson Cancel, signaling Hernandez has won the job.
Manager Jerry Manuel has inserted LF Daniel Murphy in the 2 hole and has scraped putting 2b Luis Castillo in that spot. Castillo will hit 8th.
OF Jeremy Reed thought to be a throw in to the JJ Putz trade, is hitting .426 in 21 spring games. Reed, once a top ML prospect for both the White Sox and Mariners, can help this club with his versatility(can play all 3 OF spots) and bat.
