I know I should be happy with a series win, but this is the Marlins and we should have gotten a sweep. And it was the one game I figured we’d have the best chance of winning that we ended up losing.
On Friday, Pedro Martinez went head to head with…..Josh Johnson. Now don’t get me wrong, I know Johnson has had some very good numbers this year, but this is Pedro. And just like the last season and change, the Mets didn’t get the bats going and Pedro had to be perfect. The Mets were held to two hits and their run came on Carlos Beltran’s RBI single. Pedro lost his first game of the season despite striking out 10 and only giving up two runs on five hits. Final was 5-1.
The Mets got back on track Saturday. Tom Glavine had a perfect game through five innings but ended up giving up three runs on six hits. He did strikeout nine and he’s now a very impressive 8-2 on the season. David Wright went four for four with two RBIs and Chris Woodward scored twice.
Sunday was another win and this time it was behind Orlando Hernandez’s first start as a Met. He wasn’t great, but he picked up the win. He gave up three runs on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Carlos Beltran continues to hit well. He went three for five with his fourteenth homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
The Mets are hosting the Diamondbacks and we’re winning 4-3 in the fourth inning after a rain delay. The Phillies won but the Braves, who have come out of nowhere and is currently in second place, are four back. A win would make it four and a half.
