The Mets lost their third straight game and their fifth in sixth games as they were swept by the Phillies. The Mets were shutout and held to only six hits by Kevin Gross.
Sid Fernandez dropped to 15-5 and only went four innings. He gave up four runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Wally Backman and rookie Kevin Elster both had two hits.
