Mets 5, Dodgers 2 (30-11)
The Mets won their fifth straight game and swept the Dodgers with another good pitching performance. This time it was Sid Fernandez, who improved to 5-1 on the season. He held the Dodgers to two runs on four hits while striking out five. Roger McDowell and Jesse Orosco combined to pitch a score less ninth, and Orosco saved his eighth game of the season.
Keith Hernandez had a two run double, Ray Knight was two for three with a run and an RBI and George Foster hit a solo homerun.
