Phillies 7, Mets 1  (97-52)

The Mets continued to struggle against the Phillies as they lost their third straight series to the team.  The Mets managed only a single run on three hits off of starter Marvin Freeman and Kent Tekulve.  The lone run came in the second inning.  Darryl Strawberry tripled to lead off the inning, then scored on a passed ball.

John Mitchell lost his first career start.  He went five innings and gave up four runs on seven hits.
