From Tom Seaver to Dwight Gooden to Carlos Beltran, A look at the New York Mets past, present and future.

A nice, nice series by the Mets. They came from behind in both of their wins and even the loss wasn’t that bad. Jeremi Gonzalez was on the mound against Bret Myers and I was surprised it was as close as it was.
Tuesday’s game was the good one. The Mets were down by three and Jose Reyes homered to cap off a three run inning to tie the game up. Neither team scored for the next seven innings, and then Carlos Beltran came up huge with a solo shot to end it in the sixteenth inning.
Darren Oliver got the win after pitching four shutout innings. But give the pen some credit. From the seventh on, they threw nine shutout innings. This was there game and they won it for us.
Yesterday, the Mets came back from an early deficit to win another one by a single run. Soler got the start and he left the game with a one run lead. Oddly, Feliciano gave up the tying run and he picked up the win. Billy Wagner saved his tenth game. On the hitting side, David Wright and Carlos Beltran homered in the 6-5 win.
Today’s game was the writeoff. Jose Reyes hit a three run shot in the second to tie the game up, but Bret Myers locked us down the rest of the way. Feliciano took the loss in this one.
The Mets bolstered their rotation by trading Jorge Julio for Orlando Hernandez. I like this trade because when Hernandez is on, he’s as good as anyone. We need starting pitching help, and the price was nice. At least we’re not giving up one of our prospects, a la Scott Kazmir.
