Mets 8, Dodgers 4 (23-9)
The Mets avoided a sweep and ended their current skid by blowing out the Dodgers. George Foster had a monster game as he went two for three with two homeruns, four RBIs and three runs. Kevin Mitchell went three for five with a run scored and Keith Herandez and Gary Carter both had two hits and two runs. Tim Teufel drove in two runs.
Mets starter Bruce Berenyi gave up all four runs in the third inning and was summarily pulled. Randy Niemann and Roger McDowell were impressive in relief and they threw the final 6 1/3 innings and gave up no runs on only four hits.
