From Tom Seaver to Dwight Gooden to Carlos Beltran, A look at the New York Mets past, present and future.

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey tossed the 35th one hitter in franchise history while CF Carlos Beltran doubled home the home games lone run leading the New York Mets over the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 Friday night at Citi Field. Dickey(8-5,2.43) allowed only a clean sixth inning single to fellow starting pitcher Cole Hamels(7-9,3.33) with one out, he struck out 7 while walking 1. The Phillies lefty was also outstanding on the hill, giving up 5 hits, walking 2 and K-ing 8 Mets. His lone mistake occurred in the 6th when he allowed back to back doubles to 3B David Wright and Beltran, to make it 1-0 NY.
This well pitched game was not dull and featured a controversial disputed home run. 1B Mike Hessman hit a deep drive to left field and the ball appeared to clear the fence but after a long delay, the call was reversed by video review with Hessman placed at 3rd . The runner was standed at 3rd base after Hamels struck out RF Jeff Francoeur and C Henry Blanco then intentionally walking 2B Ruben Tejada to get to Dickey. The Phillies lefty then got Dickey to ground out to him to end the threat.
The victory puts NY at 58-57 in 2010 while improving to 36-20 at Citi Field. The shutout situation is also incredible as the Mets have now shutout the two time defending NL champions 4 consecutive times at Citi Field. Injuries(Philly is missing stars such as 1B Ryan Howard and 2B Chase Utley) or no injuries, that is an incredible accomplishment. That stat is even more incredible when you consider the Phillies just scored 21 runs in a 3 game series vs the Los Angeles Dodgers this week!
