From Tom Seaver to Dwight Gooden to Carlos Beltran, A look at the New York Mets past, present and future.

This was a good old fashioned beatdown. It was 2-2 after four innings but three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth broke this one open. The final was 12-5.
Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado and Jose Valentin lead the way with the bats. Beltran homered twice and scored four runs. Carlos Delgado drove in five runs and he now has nine in the series. Jose Valentin drove in three runs and even David Wright got in on the action with a solo homerun.
Oliver Perez wasn’t neccesarily sharp, but he didn’t get blown out which was all the Mets needed. He gave up five runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Chad Bradford, Pedro Feliciano and Guilermo Mota closed the game out with 3 1/3 shutout innings.
So this series is going at least six games, and the way things are going, it’ll probably be seven. Tonight, it’ll be a rematch of game one with Tom Glavine and Jeff Weaver going at it. It sure would be nice going home with the lead and I like our chances in this pitching match up.
