Mets 2, Giants 1 (24-9)
The Mets won an old fashioned pitchers dual by coming from behind against the Giants. With the score 1-0 heading into the seventh, the Mets tied the game on Gary Carter’s RBI single. Then in the eighth, they took the lead when Ray Knight scored on Bob Brenly’s passed ball.
Bob Ojeda was very impressive and he improved to 6-1. He threw seven innings and gave up one run on five hits and no walks. Roger McDowell shutout the Giants in the final two innings to earn his fourth save of the season.
